7) Step up – Have one leg on a higher elevation than the other. Step the lower leg up to where the higher leg is. Inhale as you lower exhale as you are coming up. Do about 8-12 reps per leg.

Although you can train your calves with explosive exercises to jump higher they only amount to a small percentage of power that your body uses to jump. If you do not have a total workout routine review including upper and lower body then your competition will leave you in the dust.

Use lighter weights. It can be very tempting to want to try to keep up with the other guys in the gym. You might feel like a wimp curling 10 lbs dumbbells while the guy next to you is curling 60 lbs. It is better to work your way up then to hurt yourself. I grantee you that the guy next to you didn’t start curl 60 lbs over night.

Squats are so incredibly intense that just doing a few sets of this exercise alone tends to make for a good workout, meaning you really don’t have to do much of anything else.

Increasing muscle mass means that you have to lift weights in order to get the best results. This does not mean you have to turn into a complete bodybuilder in your weight reduction process. Adding muscle mass will just tone you up and increase your metabolism so that you can lose weight even while you rest. If you do not want to look big and bulky and strong then do not use that style of weightlifting. You just simply have to do more repetitions with less weight.

Having new muscle mass will in fact increase your metabolism. As you add muscle your body will begin to burn more calories and in longer durations throughout the day. At some point and with enough constant exercise you will be an efficient fat burning machine. But you really have to add muscle to get to this point.

How about: Dumbbell Romanian Deadlift + Dumbbell Power Clean + Dumbbell Press. This equals one repetition. So let’s say you do 5 repetitions. You are really doing 15 repetitions per set (5 deadlifts, 5 cleans and 5 presses). This takes a lot of time to perform, uses a wide range of muscles and therefore uses up a lot of energy. And again, more energy used = more fat loss.
